Woman Owned Small Business

This Program was created by the government to give more opportunities to woman business owners in the us. If your business is at least 51% owned and controlled by women who are U.S. citizens, there are numerous WOSB certification benefits available to you. The Women-Owned Small Business Program is a critical opportunity for women small business owner, by the achievement of your WOSB certification, access to government contracts becomes more accessible. 

Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Business

Like a Women-Owned Small Business, in order to be considered an EDWOSB, women must control at least 51% of the company, but to be considered EDWOSB, they must also be economically disadvantaged. This economically disadvantaged woman must, like in Women-Owned Small Businesses, make day to day decisions and long term, strategic decisions. To be considered economically disadvantaged, you must meet certain requirements for personal net worth, adjusted gross income, and fair market value of all your assets.

Small Business 8a Certification

The SBA 8(a) program helps socially and economically disadvantaged small businesses secure coveted government contracts. Government contracts can provide small business owners with massive opportunities. But because the process of competing for government contracts can be intimidating and complex, lots of small business owners shy away from these potential opportunities.

Small Business Enterprise

SBE is a company level diversity certification. SBE certifications are usually issued by the local or state government. Eligibility for certification as a Small Business Enterprise varies depending on the issuer; requirements may relate to number of employees, length of time the company has been in business and the net worth of the company’s owner. SBE certification is non-industry specific. Organizations wishing to become SBE certified should contact the appropriate government body for their state. The certification process usually involves completing an application and/or completing a registration with the certifying government body.

Disadvantaged Business Enterprise

In general, to be eligible for the DBE program, persons must own 51% or more of a “small business,” establish that they are socially and economically disadvantaged within the meaning of DOT regulations, and prove they control their business. Minority Business Enterprise

However, getting certified as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) can help you overcome some of these challenges by giving you access to programs that provide professional connections and resources that can help strengthen your business.

As a certified MBE, you’ll have more opportunities to bid for both corporate and federal business contracts. You can also be eligible for funding, such as grants, and participate in business development training.

Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business

If you are a Veteran or Service Disabled Veteran entrepreneur, you will need to understand the programs and preferences in place to support your participation in federal government contracting. The SDVOSB must be small under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code assigned to the procurement One or more Service Disabled Veterns must unconditionally own 51% of the business, control its management – including long-term decision making – and daily operations, AND hold the highest officer position (or in the case of a veteran with permanent and severe disability, the spouse or permanent caregiver of such veteran).

The HUBZone Program is designed to stimulate economic development and create jobs in urban and rural communities, also known as “Historically Underutilized Business Zones.” The program additionally provides contracting opportunities to small businesses in areas such as these, as well as hires local team members to assist with economic development projects.
